Access to cutting-edge diagnostic tools is key to improving healthcare and ensuring timely and accurate treatments. In this context, Jamaica has taken a significant step in the technological evolution of the health system with the incorporation of a team specialized in immunohistochemistry at the National Public Health Hospital.
This advance has been possible thanks to the strategic collaboration between Roche and the Ministry of Health and Wellness of Jamaica, an alliance that since 2015 has been working to strengthen access to accurate diagnoses and personalized treatments for cancer patients, with a special focus on breast cancer.
The implementation of this equipment will improve the detection of biomarkers, establish national standardization protocols and optimize the processes of derivation and analysis of tumor tissues. This is expected to facilitate more accurate diagnoses and improve the quality of life of people living with this disease.
Beyond the immediate impact in Jamaica, this initiative represents a replicable model for other countries seeking to strengthen their diagnostic capabilities through cooperation between the public and private sectors. Innovation and collaboration continue to be fundamental pillars in building a more accessible, efficient and patient-centered health system.
